- Prepares and serves food in designated serving area according to resident tray tickets/menus. Follows modified diets. Takes and documents food/beverage temperatures at designated times.
- Performs dishwashing duties including china, pots, pans, and other equipment in accordance with sanitary practices. Documents dish machine temperatures daily.
- Orients and instructs new employees.
- Performs assigned cleaning tasks in kitchen and dining room as directed. Cleans equipment in kitchen, dining room, and storage areas as scheduled.
- Prepares and delivers snacks and nourishments.
- Fills Household and Haven supply lists/delivers supply carts to designated areas, checks kitchens for supplies and fills supply lists for Health Center Main Dining Room and C Wing.
- Helps maintain inventory.
- Prepares salads, desserts, beverages according to production tally sheets, garnishing to enhance quality and appearance of food. Checks and documents food temperatures daily.
- Delivers food carts to areas in the facility.
- Responsible for accurate tallies and preparation of employee vending food supplies/fills employee vending machine with food products.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with residents, their families, fellow employees, volunteers and the general public.
- Be able to instruct fellow employees in proper meal service.
- Serves on various committees as assigned.
- Attends required in-services and approved education programs.
- Completes Quality Improvement Audits as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous food service experience is desirable, but on the job training is provided.
- Preferably at least 16 years of age.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language and to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to learn food sanitation, safety, housekeeping procedures, accepted food service techniques, and operation and maintenance of food service equipment.
- Ability to operate food service equipment.
- Trustworthy and dependable, with willingness to accept suggestions and ability to cooperate.
- High degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene, neat and well-groomed in appearance and follows department dress code.
- Exhibits a sincere desire to work with the elderly, and an interest in the understanding of the aging process.
- Capability of a flexible work schedule with weekend and holiday duties.
- Successfully completes a physical exam, pre-employment drug screen, and TB skin test, or chest x-ray, background check as necessary.
- Successfully completes CBRF training.
- Actively moving at least 90% of the time to include standing, bending, kneeling, reaching and walking. Occasional sitting as duties allow.
- Bend to touch toes, bend at waist and able to do knee squats.
- Full extension of arms above head and to front of body.
- Frequently lifts weight of up to 25 pounds. Lifts up to 50 pounds infrequently with a variety of assistance from other staff or equipment.
- Push cart of 50-250 pounds, 50-500 feet.
